Dear Neighbor:

  Twelve hundred times last year, the station pager alert alarm sounded, emergency lights flashed and sirens rang out. Somewhere in the community there was a sudden heart attack, a traffic accident, a fire, or some other emergency. The Glen Ellyn Volunteer Fire Company responded – as it has for ninety-six years. Since 1907 the Glen Ellyn Volunteer Fire Company has delivered quality fire-rescue services to the community, from the elected Fire Chief and First Assistant Chief down to the firefighter positions within the Fire Company which since its inception are filled by all volunteer personnel.

  As an organization we have much for which to be thankful. First, for the countless number of volunteers who have come through our doors and adjusted their personal lives in order to contribute tens of thousands of hours toward the success of this critically important, tax savings endeavor. Secondly, a heartfelt thanks must be extended to those in the Glen Ellyn community who have so generously supported us with financial contributions over the years. Your contributions directly fund our services and equipment, like our total fleet of 14 vehicles, which would cost more than $3.0 million to replace.

  The Fire Company relies entirely on donations from individuals and businesses for firefighting and medical gear, vehicles and other lifesaving equipment. It would take approximately $4.0 million in taxes each year to provide the level of service made possible by today’s commitment of 60 active volunteers and the generosity of the community. Although the Village government provides facilities and maintenance of our two fire stations and funds certain fees and equipment, the Fire Company relies on residences and business contributions to survive.

  Once a year, we ask you to donate to the Fire Company so that we may continue to meet the community's growing needs. Please show your support with your tax-deductible contribution.  Again thank you for your generous support!
